Globalizing modernization and culture: The case of Erol Gungor

Our thesis; Erol Gungor's ideas on culture were discussed in the context of modernization and globalization. Because Erol Gungor, one of the architects of the bridge built between yesterday and tomorrow, exhibiting a original stance in the field of Turkish social sciences. This thesis, which was realised with the literature review of theoretical concepts and Erol Gungor documentation, has acknowledge current globalization process assume as a projection of modernization and evaluate on a cultural basis. It is obvious that it will not be easy to analyze the effects of the globalization process, which holds the main rudder of the world conjuncture, on culture. Therefore, it will be significant to reinterpreted of cultural scales that create each society separately, the national morality that constitutes the cornerstone of a society and values in the position of globalization process, with Erol Gungor's understanding of culture in the perspective of modernization. In this respect, the fact that Erol Gungor, who has successfully analyzed culture in parallel with macro-level changes, will guide us as a "cultural intellectual" in this path will be of great importance in sociological context.
