Food security in Turkey in the process of globalization: The case of Elaziğ province

The concept of globalization is one of the important issues to be studied in the field of social sciences today. Considering the conceptualizations of social scientists regarding globalization, a global level of consciousness has been revealed with the loss of importance of time and space in the global relations network in a holistic approach. Security problems have arisen with globalization and these problems have affected all countries. Turkey is a country affected by globalization has been in an intense dynamics. While the concept of security has become an increasingly important issue, food security, which has become a sub-branch of it, has become one of the most important issues that need to be studied and researched. With the improvement of living standards in the countries and the advancement of the age we live in, more importance has been given to the security of the foods consumed, the substances it contains and to be healthy. In the globalizing world, standards regarding food security have gained an international dimension and related food management systems have been established. In addition, the changing of dangers in the globalizing world has diversified the scope of security. In addition to military threats, issues such as energy problems, famine, environment and food have entered the field of security and gained a global dimension. As a result, it is important to find a security perception that prioritizes the security needs of people in applications. In addition, the expectations of consumers about healthy and quality food in food security are included. In addition, nowadays increasing nutritional problems were discussed in the study; The first of these problems of access to adequate food, and the second, the problem of safe and healthy nutrients were examined. In this thesis, the meaning, importance and history of the concept of food security have been examined. Then, by considering food security legislation assessed the situation in Turkey and Turkey has been touched on the basis of food legislation. In addition, it has been determined that with the principles to be dealt with by legal regulations, it is important that the legislation on food security put into effect in our country is prepared urgently and adapted to the current conditions. In particular, the difficulties and threats faced by individuals in terms of food supply have been discussed and examined in this thesis. Finally, the conceptual framework of food security through the example of Elazig province in Turkey in this thesis, current status, management systems and analyzed by examining the legislation.
