Abstract (EN)
In professional sports life, where performance plays a major role in professional success, various studies are conducted to improve physical performance without the use of substances. In this study, the instantaneous effects of chiropractic lumbar and sacroiliac manipulation techniques to the dysfunctional segment on flexibility and jumping performances in professional football players are discussed comparatively. Healthy, asymptomatic, 18-35 years old (mean=24.98±3.79), 45 professional (mean=7.89±4.65 years football age) male football players were randomly divided into 3 groups as lumbar manipulation (LMG, n=15), SIE manipulation (SMG, n=15) and non-application group (KG, n=15). After anthropometric measurements, while testing the variables, flexibility was measured by V-Sit Reach test, jumping performance was measured by Vertical Jump test and Horizontal Jump test and 3 parameters were determined. The applications were applied to the dysfunctional segments in the lumbar spine and SIJ detected by chiropractic evaluation. The tests were applied to LMG, SMG immediately before and after the applications as a pre-test and post-test. In KG, the tests were applied by leaving as much free time as the practice times of the others, instead of application. In this selected study group, it was found that the chiropractic techniques applied created a statistically significant difference on the parameters selected for both of them. (p<0.05) The biggest difference was seen on the vertical jump. There was no statistical superiority of the application techniques to each other. Lumbar and SIE chiropractic manipulation techniques, with favorable results for this study group, are thought to be a promising approach that can be used to improve physical performance, especially in professional football, which is one of the lower extremity sports branches.
