An analysis of the effect of the 10th grade students? pesonality types on their academic achievement

The study was conducted in Gaziantep in order to analyze the effect on academic achievement of the 10th grade students? personality types. The sample of the study was drawn randomly from the whole population. The disproportionate sampling method in cluster sampling methods was used in the selection of the sample. Two high schools from each Şehitkamil and Şahinbey district were chosen randomly as the sample. Briggs Myers Type Indicator was used in order to determine the personality types of the students. The average of the students? grades given throughout the 9th year was used as the indicator of their academic success. After the completion of the data analysis it was found that there were significant differences on academic achievement extravert- introvert personality types. However no significant differences were observed in the other personality type categories: sensing- intuition, thinking- feeling, judging- perceiving.
