Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the effect of the context based learning approach applied in the 7th grade science course "Structure and Properties of Matter" on students' achievement, attitude and motivation. The study was carried out with 70 students, 34 experiments and 36 control groups in Cengiz Topel secondary school in Karakoçan district of Elazığ province during 5 weeks. In this study, quasi-experimental designs was used. The lessons were applied to the control group with the current application and the experimental group with context - based teaching prepared by taking into account the unit gains. Before and after the study; science achievement test, science attitude scale and science motivation scale were applied to the experimental and control group. The data obtained from the motivation scale sub-factors were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 package program. Multivariate analysis of varianca (MANOVA) was applied to the data obtained from pre-tests. The resoult of the analysis showed that the pre-tests were equivalent. The groups can be assumed to be equivalent before the study. Multivariate covariance analysis (MANCOVA) was applied to the data obtained from the last tests. As a result of the data analysis, it was found that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group students using the context-based learning approach in favor of the experimental group. There was no significant difference between students' attitudes and motivations. In order to perform FBBT pre-post-retention test analyzes, mixsed measurements two-factor ANOVA analysis was performed. As a result of the data analysis, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean success scores within the group over time. At the same time, there was a significant difference between the groups in favor of the experimental group. Two-factor analysis of variance was used to analyze the effect of the applied methots on permanence. There was no significant difference in the the mean scores between the groups.
