Abstract (EN)

Malatya is an Anatolian city which is located on the transition roads between east and west because of its geographical location and has hosted many cultures in this respect. It has been seen that many factors are effective in the formation of this culture in Malatya, which has a rich folk culture bearing the traces of ancient Turkish culture. One of these factors is apricot of Malatya, which is one of the seven products of Turkey with geographical indication registration in the presence of European Union. In the study titled "Apricot in Malatya Folk Culture ", the effects of apricot on folk culture elements in the city were discussed and the apricot has been traced in namings, folk cuisine, games, various beliefs, practices and traditions that were both born and kept alive by the people, and folk literature products. In this context, compilation, research and examination studies were carried out in Malatya and its districts, and the effect of apricot on folk culture products obtained from written and oral sources was presented with examples.
