Analysis of the lexical items in the work titled "Marzubân-nâme tercümesi"

ABSTRACT Analysis Of The Lexical Items In The Work Titled "Marzubân-Nâme Tercümesi" Kahveci, Selen Master's Thesis, Department of Turkish Language and Literature Thesis Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya Gökçe November 2024 This study examines the thematic lexical items of the work titled "Marzubân-Nâme Tercümesi" written by Marzubân bin Rüstem and translated by Sadrid'dün Şeyhoğlu. The introduction outlines the purpose, methodology, and limitations of the study, providing information about the Old Anatolian Turkish period to which the work belongs, as well as details about Old Anatolian Turkish texts and the "Marzubân-Nâme Tercümesi." In the first section of the study, the lexical items are analyzed under the main headings of "Proper Noun Information and Linguistic Elements", divided into 38 subsections. The second section, titled "Names According to Their Topics" examines the work's lexical items in 98 subsections. The third section, "Tables and Statistical Data" presents information regarding the origins of the words in the text, displayed in table format. In the Evaluation and Conclusion section, findings derived from the analyzed data are discussed. In the final section of the thesis, the sources utilized in the research are listed in the "Bibliography" section. This study examines the lexical vocabulary of Marzubân-nâme Tercümesi, revealing the linguistic structure of the work and the social values of the period. The prominence of Arabic-origin words in the language of the work reflects the cultural and religious influences of the time. The words used indicate the development of the social structure, the evolution of value judgments, and the expansion of communication networks, while the moral themes in the work, such as "justice" and "friendship," are found to still hold relevance today. Additionally, the distribution of abstract and concrete concepts in the language of the work contributes to our understanding of the dynamics of the social structure and the processes of linguistic development. These findings emphasize the historical and cultural continuity of viii language and highlight the significance of such works as important resources in both linguistic and cultural terms.
