Introduction of Tajweed books of Mehmed Kâmil Efendi and Abdulhayy Qurbanali and their comparison

We have studied on lives of two scholars of Qur'an, Mehmet Kâmil Efendi and AbdulHayy QurbanAli and compared their tajweed books. Mehmed Kâmil Efendi's masterpiece is Mukemmel Tajweed-i Rashadiye. AbdulHayy QurbanAli 's masterpiece is Fenn-i Tajweed. Mukemmel Tajweed is 56 pages published in 1914 in Samsun. Fenn-i Tajweed is 27 pages published in 1932 in Tokyo, Japan. MT has two chapters. The first chapter is Tajweedi Reshadiye consists 25 subtitles as the importance of reciting Qur'an with tajweed, makhraj (point of articulation) of letters, features of letters and general subjects of the science of qiraat. The second chapter consists 27 subtitles as what medd is and its kinds, idgâm and its kinds, qalqala, sekte and similar subjects. Fenn-i Tecvîd (The science of Tajweed) book has written in more simple way comparing with the other book. It contains 27 subtitles. Subjects are medd and its kinds, idgâm, features of letters, makhraj of letters, the letter Ra and features. Both books have used classical methods. The main difference between two books is: Mukemmel Tajweed has more broad explanations and the language is more literal. Subjects explained in a more simple way and less detailed in Fenn-i Tajweed Our study consists three chapters. The first chapter is general introduction to the science of tajweed and the curriculum of tajweed in Qur'an education institutions during that time period. The second chapter consists biographies of authors. In the third chapter, we compared those two books with each other and also the value of both books among other books in this field.
