The life of Mehmet Refik Fenmen transcription writing and evaluation of his work "Ameli Telsiz Telgraf ve Telsiz Telefon"

Communication has always been an important issue for civilizations. Human beings did their best to communicate as much as time and conditions allowed, they used all opportunities for this, and organized their postal services on horseback and/or on foot. Over time, semaphore-style symbolic communication methods were used to speed up communication, but with the development of technology, this method also disappeared. With the development of electricity, it found its first application in telegraphy. By combining magnetism and electricity, the wired electric telegraph was invented, and later the wireless telegraph was developed. With the invention of the telegraph, the world has changed at a speed it has never experienced before in politics, culture, education, commerce, environment, sociology and many other issues. As Mc Luhan noted, the world has begun to turn into a global village, and this effect continues today. In this study, a translation of Mehmet Refik Fenmen's work named Operational Wireless Telegraph and Wireless Telephone was made, and the history of old communication and telegraph studies were included. In the work, the author discussed the electrical equipment and information required for telegraphy and touched upon the features of wireless telegraphy. Fenmen, who was educated in the field of engineering, worked as an engineer, educator and manager in many institutions and even served as a member of parliament for a period. The author later compiled into a book the notes he prepared on physics subjects such as electricity, automobiles, machinery, radio, and relativity theory during his years at Darülfünun. Wireless Telegraph and Wireless Telephone is a basic level telegraph book published in Ottoman letters in 1927. Mehmet Refik Fenmen also edited the popular science magazine of the period, Fen Alemi, and the magazine covered many science topics in an interesting way.
