Abstract (EN)

Cancer is a complex disorder that occurs when occurs when cells in the body divide and multiply uncontrollably anda re affected by environmental and genetic factors. Breasr cancer is the most common thype of cancer in women and has been identified as the most common cause of death after lung cancer in cancer types. Maresin-1 macrophage mediator in inflammation regression (macrophage mediatorin resolving inflammation) it is defined as a macrophage-derived mediator in the resolution of inflammation. Maresins are polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) metabolites that resemble various other members of the specialized pre-solvent intermediates (SPM) class, it has strong anti-inflammatory, protective, pre-dissolving and healing properties. 13 cachectic (BMI<18) breast cancer, 30 non-cachectic (BMI>18), breast cancers and 29 healthy normal weight control groups were included in the study. In cachectic breast cancer patients, maresin-1 was significantly lower than non-cachectic breast cancer healthy control groups (p=0,003). BMI was found to be significantly lower in cachectic breast cancer patients than in non-cachectic and healthy control groups (p=0,000). As a result, a significant relationship was found between maresin-1 and cachexia. It is thought that increasing the level of maresin-1 in patients with cachectic breast cancer can reduce inflammation and pain in the patient. Detailed research is needed to determine the precise role and follow-up role of maresin-1 in cachexia. Key words: Cancer, breast cancer, maresin-1.
