Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study was conducted to test the validity and reliability in Turkish of the "Mentor Behavior Scale" developed by Brodeur et al. (2015). Materials and Method: This study was conducted in Ege University, Faculty of Nursing between November 2018 and June 2019. 547 students accepted to participate in the study. The data were collected using Mentor Behavior Scale and Peer Mentor Assessment Scale. In the study, validity of language, scope and construct validity were analyzed. Test-retest and internal consistency analyzes were performed to evaluate reliability. Language, scope and construct validity analyzes were performed to evaluate the validity of the study and test-retest and internal consistency analyzes were performed to evaluate reliability of the study. Findings: The Mentor Behavior Scale was translated into Turkish and translated back into English for language validity. 10 experts were consulted for the scope validity and it was found that the content validity index values ranged from 0.80-1.00. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to ensure construct validity. In this analysis, the fit indexes were found to be CFI=0.965, TLI=0.956, RMSEA=0.071 and SRMR=0.018. In order to evaluate the reliability, the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was examined and α=0.937. Cronbach Alpha Reliability Coefficients were obtained as α=0.976, α=0.957, α=0.860 and α=0.960 for the mentorship relationship structure, participation-relationship, autonomy support and competence support sub-dimensions. In the test-retest analysis conducted at two-week intervals to evaluate the time invariance of the scale, a significant correlation was observed according to the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient. Conclusion: The Mentor Behavior Scale has a similar structure to the original scale and is a valid and reliable instrument for its application in Turkish society Keywords; Mentoring, mentor, mentee, peer mentoring, validity, reliability
