Abstract (EN)

In this study; the usability of marble powder waste in production of grouting materials as substitute for calcite was investigated. Within this study firstly 200 kg wasted marble powder was supplied from Dimer A. Ş Marble Factory located in Diyarbakır Organized Industry Zone. Then, marble powder waste of which humidity rate was taken the demanded level, was processed in grinding and screening in order to become as the same grain size of calcite (16 μ and lower) which is the raw material of grouting material. Marble powder waste which is made ready-to-use is mixed with several chemicals rather than calcite powder such as; thickener, water-repellent and slimicide chemicals and prepared as grouting material. In order to determine some important material features of the prepared grouting material; samples in comply with TS EN 12808 (2010) standards. In the stage of preparing samples, it was observed that the color of grouting material becomes darker and paler, and aggregation occurred by increasing the volume of marble powder. Several experiments were made in order to determine values of pressure resistance and bending resistance after freezing- melting cycle, water absorbtion, contraction, surface durability, abrasion durability, bending durability and Compression strength. Data obtained as a result of those experiments, were evaluated with single regression method and the grouting material stated in TS EN 12808 (2010) was compared with limit values. As a result of this evaluation, it was decided that the grouting material that is made by using marble powder wastes meets limit values stated in TS EN 12808 (2010) and thus marble powder wastes could be used as grouting materials.
