Abstract (EN)
In this research, opinions of 11th grade students about level of contribution of curriculum based course books and human and economic geography curriculum to teaching are presented and the differences according to their sexes, the subject that they study and type of high school they attend are exposed.The universe of the research is 11th grade students in Kızılcahamam district in Ankara in 2006-2007 academic year. The sample is 298 students in Kızılcahamam Anatolian High School, Kızılcahamam High School, Kızılcahamam Vocational High School, Kızılcahamam Medical High School, Kızılcahamam Religious High School and Kızılcahamam Hotel Management and Tourism High School in Kızılcahamam district.A questionnaire including 36 questions has been used for this research. The data obtained from the questionnaire results has been analyzed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The t test according to students sexes, frequency and percentage distribution related to students opinions, variance analysis in order to determine the differences according to subject and type of high school and Scheffe test have been applied. Meaningfulness level is accepted as 0,05 in this research.According to the results of this research;1) The opinions of the students about level of contribution of curriculum based course books and human and economic geography curriculum to teaching are fairly positive.2) The opinions of the participated students about level of contribution of curriculum based course books and human and economic geography curriculum to teaching have not shown a meaningful difference according to their sexes.3) A meaningful variation couldn?t be found out according to the participated students? subjects.4) In the analysis made according to participated students? highschool, A meaningful variation of has been found between General Highschool and Anatolian Highschool in favor General Highschool. This can be considered as the students in general highschool students believe that in the solution of existing problems contribution level of human and economic geography currıculum to teaching according to student opınıons is higher. The evidence that vocational school students are incurious about geography lesson is reached. In order to prevent this in all level of highschool geography should be compulsory and the necessity of geography should be emphasised.The academic staff of Gazi University Educational Faculty had developed the universe and the sample of the research in order to compare the old geography curriculum and new one in 2005 which is another purpose of this research.A questionnaire consisting 15 clauses and 5 open end questions was used for academicians. As a result;a) The percentage of the academicians who found the New Geography Curriculum as ?good? and ?very good? than the old one is 62,5%.b) The transition from the teacher based old curriculum to the student based (active learning) new curriculum is positive. However, insufficient language and declaration made it difficult to understand, so one leg of the curriculum is fragmentary.Key Words: existing problem, human and economic geography curriculum
