Abstract (EN)

This study was planned based on the assumption that the neurovascular states involved in the pathophysiology of migraine may cause a sensorineural hearing loss by affecting blood circulation in the inner ear and the brain stem may be responsible for the onset of migraine symptoms. Our aim; If hearing loss occurs in children diagnosed with migraine, evaluation of the relationship between this loss and cochlea and brain stem. In our study; the study group consisted of 30 subjects aged 12-18 years who were diagnosed as migraine according to ICHD-II classification. Thirty healthy individuals as control group participated in the study. Pure voice audiometry, immitansmetric evaluation, high frequency audiometry and ABR test were performed in each patient. In our study, there was a significant deterioration in the frequency of migraine patients at 8000 Hz, 12500 Hz, 16000 Hz compared to the control group (p<0.001). In the comparison of ABR findings of the study and control groups; I, III, V and I-III, III-V, I-V peak and interpic latencies were evaluated at 70 dB nHL. There was no significant difference in I, III, V peak and I-III, III-V, I-V interpic latencies (p>0.05). High frequency hearing thresholds and ABR findings of the study group; there was no statistically significant difference between age, sex and ears (p>0.05). In conclusion, in this study; high frequency hearing thresholds of children with migraine disease were deteriorated. We suggest that high frequency audiometry and ABR test should be used as a sensitive and objective criterion for the detection and progression of the disease in children with migraine.
