Abstract (EN)
Russia is a unique example in the world, not only because of its history, but also because of its continuous efforts for transition to democracy throughout every phase of its history. Although this thesis, does not cover a comparative study, one should also consider Russia's history, the hugeness of the geography that it holds, and its multi-ethnic population, when considering Russia's efforts towards transition to democracy. All factors within the political life in Russia, all its political parties, including the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, CPSU after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, even the party of power at different stages of its political life, had played and do still play a significant role in transition to democracy, because of reflecting political views of Russian public. Efforts of transition towards democracy in Russia, could be underestimated, or misinterpreted, if, its history, land and multi-ethnic federative structure is neglected. Russia holds eleven different time zones. This simple example is enough to explain the land that Russia holds and how hard its transition to democracy could be. As a conclusion, Russia's efforts for transition to democracy, is incomparable to any other country in the world, so does its political parties.
