Abstract (EN)
Photovoltaic cells made up of semiconductors that was once used just in space researches have become widespread in daily life due to diminishing costs and shrinking sizes. Having no serious costs other than set up costs, the systems that can contribute to electricity generation in our country can produce electricity only in periods when exposed to sun light and besides they are easily effected by external factors such as temperature and dust as disadvanteges. This has made it required that the energy generated by these systems to be stored in batteries and transferred to the system with minimum loss. Maximum Power Point Tracking methods are mathematical algorithms that have emerged in order to reach this goal rather than mechanical systems that can change the angle of incidence. The most preferred methods attempt to approach to maximum power point by iterative loops although there exist many distinctive methods. In this thesis, firstly the most commonly used two methods, Perturb and Observe Method and Incremental Conductance Method have been compared with each other by implementing seperate experiments under the same conditions. Then an iterative algorithm in which these two methods are run respectively and compared in terms of power level they have provided and the method that has reached the higher level of power is reached has been improved. At the last stage this algorithm has been compared with another alogirtihms developed from the previous literature. According to the results, Perturb and Observe Method and Incremental Conductance Methods produce power at similar levels and adaptive algorithms with variable PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) step size values have reached higher power levels compared to traditional algorithms.
