The evaluation on impact of multipara pregnants' self-care ability on anxiety and self-respect

Abstract (EN)

This study's aim was to reveal the impact of multipara pregnants' self-care ability on anxiety and self-respect. Besides, the effects of variables such as pregnants' age, marital status, education level, income level and occupation on self-care ability, anxiety and self-respect were examined. Women who had given birth to more than one child and has been living in Istanbul were included in the study. Also, in order to identify demographic characteristics of pregnants, Personal Information Form, and Self-care Ability Scale had been applied. In the analysis of the data, Mann Whitney-U and Kruskal Wallis correlation and regression tests were used. When the socio-demographic characteristics were analyzed, it was found out that as pregnants' age increased, their anxiety levels increased; as pregnants' pregnancy numbers increased, their self-care ability levels decreased; and pregnants who did not have a planned pregnancy had higher anxiety levels than pregnants who had a planned pregnancy. There was no meaningful results for some of socio-demographic factors that took part in the research, such as pregnants' marital status, education levesl or occupation. In addition, it was found out that as pregnants' self-respect levels decreased, their anxiety levels increased. Suggestions for researchers, psychological consultants working on this field had been proposed based on the research finding in the dicussion section.
