Abstract (EN)

Sufism is the least studied area among the studies conducted in the context of Islamic political thought. Aiming to contribute to the relevant literature this study has been prepared to examine the views of Kubrawî sheikh Najmuddîn Dâya (654/1256), who wrote an independent siyasatnâma entitled Marmûzât-i Asadî der Mazmûrât-i Dâvûdî. Our study consists of two chapters apart from the introduction and conclusion. In the chapter titled Factors Forming Najmuddîn Dâya's Views on Politics, we examine the relationship between Sufism and politics in the period in which Dâya lived, and then his life story that influenced the formation of his views on politics, as well as his works that can be examined in the context of politics. Lastly, in this chapter, we mention his translations in the Ottoman Empire. In the next chapter, titled Najmuddîn Dâya's Views on Politics, we scrutinize Dâya's views on politics in three categories as mabda'-maash-maad. In the section mabda' we study Dâya's ontological and epistemological foundations affecting his views on politics; in the section of maash we stand on the state, the governor, and society formations in Dâya's thought; finally, in the maad section, we argue regarding how Dâya handles the issue of social fate in his work. In the conclusion, we evaluate the attributes that make a siyasetnâme "sûfî" by considering Dâya's views along with the method and style that he used in his Mermûzât. As a result of this study, we argue that Mermûzât is an independent sûfî siyasetnâme. In addition to this by studying the extant manuscripts of the relevant work, we propose some corrections on misinformation about Dâya's works.
