Quality of life for Nevsehir and Nigde municipalities: The example of Emek and Selçuk neighborhood

Life Quality is a state that determining social, economic and physical necessities of society. Urban Life Quality, is expressed as to what extent quality living that citizens want to acquire is provided by urban management. With Neo-liberalism emerging in the process of public administration restructuring along with globalism, some approaches become prominent such redefining duties and activity areas of the government and transferring some authorities central government to local governments or ,if it is more specific, to municipalities become prominent. It is stated that there is a necessity of providing municipalities with alternative service delivery methods, source and staff recruitment for effectively fulfillment of increased duties and authorities. In this study, urban life quality within the scope of municipalities which is a local government unit, in the light of indicators of Nevşehir province Emek neighborhood and Niğde province Selçuk neighborhood samples, effectiveness of municipalities in services provided by them such as environmental cleaning and health assistance , social services, transportation services, public works and urbanism services, financial services, culture and tourism services, public security services has an impact on citizens' satisfactions from urban life quality. Consequently, it is stated that while municipality services that are provided for increasing the urban life quality in Niğde province are found adequate by citizens, services in Nevşehir province are found inadequate. The Municipality of Nevşehir should give much more importance to the services stated as inadequate and should carry out required studies on these services.
