Nuʿaym ibn Hammad and his Kitap al-Fitan

The purpose of this study is to provide information about Nuʿaym b. Hammād, an important figure in Islamic history, focusing on his life, personality, and activities as a narrator, with a particular emphasis on his book Kitābu'l-Fiten. In the first section, various aspects of Nuʿaym b. Hammād's life are examined, such as the period he lived in, his birth, his beliefs, his relationship with rulers, his time in prison, and his death. The second section provides information about Nuʿaym b. Hammād's activities as a narrator, his teachers, his students, his scholarly journeys, and his works. Additionally, an assessment is made regarding his role as the first author to compile a book in the genre of musnad. The third section focuses on Kitābu'l-Fiten, discussing the reasons for its writing, its manuscripts, editions, the significance of its title, its contents, and the value of the narrations it provides with historical context. These early period-centered studies are also important for future research in the field of hadith sciences. They complement each other as they shed light on the period before the golden age of hadith classification. Therefore, examining the life of a hadith scholar, his teachers, his students, his works, and his activities as a narrator is crucial for understanding his impact on the field of hadith and assisting in its accurate interpretation.
