Abstract (EN)
The increasing human population and developing living standards in the world have led to significant increases in energy use. Meeting a significant part of the energy need from fossil fuels has begun to put these energy sources at risk. This is because fossil fuel reserves are not renewable. It has become a necessity of our age to turn to alternative and environmentally friendly fuel sources when the damage to nature as a result of their use, as well as the decrease of these resources with each passing day, is evaluated. In this study, Luffa Aegyptiaca, known as loofah seed, which is grown especially the in Hatay region in Turkey, is discussed. The oil was obtained using the seeds of Luffa Aegyptiaca. The fatty acids were determined by subjecting the obtained oil to the necessary analyzes and tests. The main fatty acids affecting the fuel properties of biodiesel, oleic acid (C18:1) and Linoleic acid (C18:2), were determined as 97.8318 and 129.1163, respectively. In addition to these two fatty acids, all the free fatty acids determined were evaluated using the Biodiesel Analyzer v1.2 program. Using the Diesel-RK program in line with the data obtained; Compared to Luffa Aegyptiaca biodiesel (LAB100), Soy Methyl Ester (SME100), Canola Methyl Ester (RME100) and standard diesel (DIESEL100). For each fuel; engine power, torque, specific fuel consumption and NOx emission values were analyzed at five different engine speeds (rpm). It has been determined that the value of LAB100 fuel has NOx emissions of only 10% of the emission value of other fuels. As a result of this study, it is shown that LAB100 fuel can be a good alternative to fossil fuel sources by reducing the analyzed FFA value of 2.41% to below 1% by making the necessary procedures.
