Teachers' opinions about the adeguacy of fourth and fifhh grades science and technology course books which are prepared according to the student-centered education

This research was designed to state the teachers' opinions about the fourth and fifth grades Science and Technology schoolbooks including finding weak sides of books and clarifying the lack of necessary data in books, also to propose some suggestions on how to prepare the quality well-designed Science and Technology books in the light of this research findings.The universe of the research consists of 4 th and 5 th grades teachers who work in elementary schools in İstanbul ( Anatolian Side ) in 2007/2008 Education and Training period. This research was applied to 250 teachers who were randomly selected from 30 elementary schools.This is a descriptive research. Likert scale was used in questionaire. The research data was gathererd with questionaires. The questionare took its last shape after a long period of scanning related researches and resources. In the first part of it , there are 5 questions that aim to get personal data about participants. In the second part, there are 63 questions that aim to state teachers' opinions about sufficency of science and technology schoolbooks.To analyse the data that was gathered from participants statistical SPSS program was used. I?order to analyse data some scientific methods were followed like : frequency ( N ), percent ( P ), mean ( X ), and standard deviation ( Ss ). For Sex and Publishing homes variations T- test analysis was applied. To observe whether or not there is difference between age, seniority, the school of graduation and group variations, one way ANOVA analysis was applied. Tables and graphics were formed and data was interpreted.In the light of evaluation of research data; 4 th and 5 th grade teachers' opinions about Science and Technology schoolbooks change according to sex, age, seniority and the school of graduation.
