Abstract (EN)
Today, the development of educational activities has ensured that the evaluation process is not separate from educational processes, and it has been emphasized that evaluation methods should reflect and be part of the education process. When measurement and evaluation practices in visual arts education are examined, it is discovered that students are primarily evaluated based on their products (results). One of the primary objectives of visual arts education is to create works of art. However, applied research should not take precedence over the goals of art education and the values gained through this process. Portfolios, a performance-based approach that reflects the student's development throughout the process, can serve as an alternative to these limitations in this context. Furthermore, as technology has evolved, social media tools have become more prevalent in the lives of students, particularly the younger generation. Many social media tools have evolved into spaces where people can reflect on their lives and activities, as well as their perspectives and products. The purpose of this study is to reveal pre-service teachers' perspectives on the use of social media as a portfolio, as well as to guide and encourage new ideas in various applications of visual arts learning and teaching processes. In accordance with this goal, the Department of Fine Arts Education Painting and Craft Education 1.,2.,3. conducted interviews with 20 pre-service teachers in the fourth and fourth grades. The interviews were evaluated qualitatively, and it was determined that Instagram was the most popular social media tool among pre-service teachers, serving as a portfolio in which they presented their works of art. It has been determined that the primary goals of teacher candidates' social media use are to share information about their fields, provide access to physically inaccessible artists and works of art, and sell their own works of art. Furthermore, it was discovered that pre-service teachers have generally positive attitudes toward the use of social media as a portfolio, and they reported that deliberate use of social media improved them in a variety of ways. Keywords: Visual Arts Education, Portfolio, Social Media.
