The effect of teachers' perceptions of ethical climate on recreation constraints

This study examines the influence of teachers' perceptions of ethical climate on recreational constraints. Conducted within a quantitative research design, the relationship between ethical climate perception and leisure constraints was evaluated through statistical analyses. The findings indicate that as ethical climate perception increases, perceived barriers to participation in leisure activities decrease. Significant relationships were identified between leisure constraints and the subdimensions of ethical climate, namely "laws, rules, and policies," "benevolence," "independence," "self-interest," and "organizational interest." In terms of gender, female participants reported higher ethical climate perceptions than males, while no significant differences were observed with respect to marital status, educational level, or professional experience. Within the scope of leisure constraints, lack of information, lack of companionship, and individual psychological factors emerged as the most prominent barriers. It was determined that perceptions of lack of information and inadequate facilities increased with age and professional experience. Regarding leisure preferences, participants who preferred reading reported fewer perceived constraints compared to those engaging in social activities. The findings suggest that strengthening the ethical climate not only enhances employees' job satisfaction and motivation but also positively influences their participation in social and cultural activities. In this context, expanding policies and practices that support ethical values in educational institutions holds strategic importance for employees' psychosocial well-being and quality of life.
