Abstract (EN)

This study aims to reveal the mediating role of organizational commitment in the relationship between social loafing behaviors and job satisfaction of teachers working in public and private high schools in Diyarbakır. The population of the study is comprised of high school teachers working in four central districts of Diyarbakır (Bağlar, Kayapınar, Yenişehir, Sur). The sample was chosen from the population through the stratified sampling, and thus 420 teachers constitute the sample of the study. While the direct effect of social loafing on job satisfaction is 7%, when organizational commitment is included in the model, the total effect increases to 12%. 5% of this total effect is due to the mediating effect of organizational commitment. The change of p value in the effect of social loafing on job satisfaction was .00 in the first step and .03 in the second step. This may indicate that organizational commitment has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between teachers' social loafing behaviors and their job satisfaction. Keywords: Social Loafing, Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, Teacher
