Idendify the difference between conflict management and management style of elementary school managers

The aim of this study is to identify the difference between conflict management and management style of elementary school managers and to create convenient proposals to the obtained results and findings.Public and private elementary schools situated in Istanbul: Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Şişli, Sarıyer were taken as samples in 2006- 2007 academic year in the study.In this study, a survey intended for teachers was developed under the control of experts by using ?Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory? and studies performed about this subject.The survey was applied on 300 teachers which 200 of them were public and 100 of them were private teachers.We tried to obtain responses to nine sub-problems. The data obtained of the surveys were analyzed and commentated with the use of ?frequency?, ? weighted average?, ?t-test?, ?one way variance analysis (anova)?, ?Scheffe suggestiveness test? techniques.At the end of the study, after statistical analysis was done the result is such as:1.It is considered that school managers mostly embrace the democratic method.2.School managers do not want any tension and disappointment in their schools.3.Managers of public schools use pressure less than managers in private schools.4.The communication between managers and teachers in private schools is better than in public schools.5.It is considered that managers of private schools provide for the demands of teachers more than managers of public schools.6.It is considered that managers of private schools do not want to have conflicts with the teachers as it is mostly the case in public schools.7.It is considered that school managers do not make discriminations between class teachers and subject teachers.8.It is considered that school managers speak about the disagreement with their class teachers and subject teachers and are not regardless of the situation.9.It is considered that school managers, the more the number of students rise the more they use their authority and power.10.Teachers express that when there is a trouble, their manager mostly chase closely the part which concerns himself.11.After the gained results proposals are developed we think of that it will be beneficial for managers and teachers.
