Abstract (EN)

The most important investment of the country is the quality of human resources and the younger generation is transformed into power for the country under the influence of educational institutions. School is an important factor in good growth of children and young people. Teachers and administrators work together to carry out the activities of the school. The behavior of managers has a significant impact on the motivation of teachers. Secondary Schools have emerged as one of the steps in the transition to high school career in our educational system. In this study, the assessments of the teachers as for the motivation methods used by the middle school principal were investigated. Research was conducted at the secondary school teachers working in government and private secondary schools in the Bakirkoy district at the Istanbul province on 2013- 2014 academic year. In this study, totally 315 teachers, 299 of them are working at 14 state secondary school and 99 of them are working at 15 private secondary schools in the Bakirkoy district, were reached. In the research, determining the scale of the Teacher Motivation Approach of School Principals (OMEY) (Başın, 2012) is used as data collection tool and the Personal Information Form created by the researcher is used. In the analysis of data t test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used. Analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 software package. In all analyzes, a minimum error probability is taken as p <.05. According to research findings there is no significant difference between the levels of motivation approaches among secondary school principals based on teachers' perception in terms of gender, educational status and seniority. On the other hand, findings show a significant difference between the levels of motivation approaches among secondary school principals based on teachers' perception in terms of school type. Starting from the research findings, it seems important for school administrators to deal with the motivation of teachers. Therefore, the organizing of the school administrators of in-service training with motivation content can increase efficiency in schools.
