Examination of the relationship between school maturity with physical and emotional development in 60-72 months children at preschool period

In this study, the relationship between school maturity with physical and emotional development in 60-72 months children at preschool period was examined. 103 students from the Private Bursa Balat Primary School University and Private Bursa Best Preschool in the Nilüfer district of Bursa participated in this study. The individuals participating in the study are between the months of 60-72. The Sociodemographic Information Form was used to determine the demographic characteristics of participants, the Metropolitan School Maturity Scale to measure school maturity levels, Sullivan Emotional Intelligence Scale for children to determine emotional development levels and the Anthropometry Scale to measure physical levels. Research hypotheses were tested using the Statistical Package Program for Social Sciences (SPSS). There was no significant difference between school maturity and emotional development according to gender. As a result of the study; A low level positive relationship was found between the school maturity and physical development of 60-72 month-old children. As the school maturity of the participants increases, their physical development characteristics also increase. A positive and statistically significant relationship was found between school readiness and emotional development. As the school maturity of the participants increases, their emotional development characteristics also increase. A low level of significant relationship was found between emotional development and physical characteristics of the early childhood participants in the height and weight sub-dimensions and no significant relationship was found in the sub-dimensions of jump, flexibility and stroke length.
