Examining the relationship between effective communication skills and psychological ownership levels of teachers

The main purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between effective communication skills and psychological ownership levels of teachers working in pre-school education institutions. Relational screening model was used in the study designed in quantitative research method. The sample of the research consists of 401 preschool teachers working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Diyarbakır province and districts in the 2023-2024 academic year. As a data collection tool in the research; Personal information form, communication skills inventory and psychological ownership scale were used. Whether communication skills and psychological ownership levels differ significantly by gender and marital status is determined by t-test. Whether it differs according to the variables of education level, seniority, age, institution worked, department they graduated from, book reading frequency and professional development seminar was examined with ANOVA test. In the study, regression analysis was conducted to determine whether psychological ownership was a significant predictor of communication skills. When the research findings are evaluated, it is seen that teachers' communication skills do not differ statistically significantly according to gender, marital status and age variables; It was observed that there was a significant difference according to the variables of education level, seniority, institution worked, department they graduated from, frequency of reading books and professional development seminar. It was determined that all variables did not differ significantly in teachers' perceptions of psychological ownership. It was observed that psychological ownership significantly predicted communication skills and explained 33% of the total variance in communication skills.
