The relationship between the leadership capacity in schools and the level of teachers' commitment to the profession

In the success of the schools, their dedication to the teacher's profession plays an important role. The role of the school leadership capacity is also important in the dedication of teachers to the profession. Therefore, this research aims to determine the relationship between the leadership capacity of schools and the levels of teacher dedication to the profession?" The answer to the question "Is there a meaningful relationship between the perception of the school's leadership capacity and the levels of dedication to the teaching profession is sought. The universe of this research, which is engraved in the model of relational screening, is composed of 9322 teachers in the 2020-2021 academic year of secondary education, located in the central districts and Menemen district of Izmir. The sample of the study is composed of 443 teachers, selected by random sampling, with a ratio of teachers in the universe to the number of teachers in the districts. Scale of Schools' Leadership Capacity, which was developed by Kılınç (2013) with 30 statements, and Scale of Dedication To the Teaching Profession, which was developed Kozikoğlu and Senemoğlu (2018) with 20 statements was applied to teachers in sample of study. After the descriptive statistical analysis of the data obtained, T-Test and ANOVA analyzes were applied to the data upon the detection that the data had normal distribution in relation to skewness and kurtosis values. Also, Pearson moments multiplication correlation analysis was applied to determine the relationship between school leadership capacity and teacher's levels of dedication to teacher profession. With these analyzes, simple linear regression analysis has been performed to determine whether the school leadership capacity is a quilt for teachers' teaching profession. According to the results obtained in the study, teachers' perceptions of school leadership capacity were found to be "high" at all scale and all sub-dimensions of scale. It has been concluded that the level of dedication to the teaching profession of teachers including sampling is very high across the whole scale and at all the sub-dimensions of the scale. The research results show that the school leadership capacity and the levels of teachers dedicated to teaching profession do not differ according to the gender, vocational seniority and education levels of teachers. However, it has been found that teachers have a significant difference in school leadership capacity according to their school working time, but there is no significant difference in their levels of dedication to teaching profession. According to the research findings, the level of dedication to the teaching profession has been found to have a positive and poor relationship with the perception of school leadership capacity. However, it has been determined that there are meaningful relationships between all dimensions of dedication to the teaching profession and the school leadership capacity. The simple linear regression analysis of the study concluded that the school leadership capacity is a meaningful quilt of the level of dedication to the teaching profession. According to this result, the level of school leadership capacity describes approximately 4% of the level of dedication to the teaching profession.
