Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the perceptions of public school teachers about the function of organizational gossip and their perceptions of organizational cynicism. For this purpose, survey model was used. The population of the study consists of 2891 teachers. Stratified sampling, one of the random sampling methods, was used for sampling. 411 teachers working at pre-school, primary, secondary, and high school levels in Siirt city centre, each of which is considered as a stratum, constitute the sample of the study. The data obtained in the study were analysed with the SPSS 22.0 package program. According to the results of the study, teachers have stated that among the function of organizational gossip, awareness and development of relationships are low, while organizational harm function is high. Teachers' perceptions of organizational cynicism in general and of its cognitive, affective and behavioural dimensions are low. As there is an increase in teachers' perception of organizational gossip functions including awareness, development of relationship and harm, the perceptions of cynicism also increase. In the study, it was determined that organizational gossip was a statistically significant predictor of teachers' perceptions of organizational cynicism.
