Abstract (EN)
In this research the effect of organizational culture on academic procrastination tendencies of academicians was investigated in the framework of social learning theory. In addition, it has been analyzed whether there is a significant difference in faculties, academic title and gender between the procrastination tendencies of academicians. The universe of the research is composed of academicians in Istanbul. The research sample consisted of a total of 166 people from three state and three foundation universities selected by incidental sampling method. Correlational research was applied from quantitative research methods and questionnaire was used as data collection tool in the study. In the first part of the three-part questionnaire, the participants are asked to provide personal information form that requires personal information such as age, gender, marital status, academic title. In the second part, there is an organizational culture scale prepared by Sigler and Pearson and translated into Turkish by Emet. In the third chapter, there is an academic procrastination scale prepared by Aitken to measure academic procrastination tendency and translated into Turkish by Balkıs. The results of the research showed that time orientation and uncertainty avoident culture has a significant effect on the academic procrastination tendencies. It was also concluded that there is not any significant difference between faculties. In terms of academic title, there was a significant difference between research assistants with associate professors and professors and it was revealed that men tend to procrastinate academic activities more than women. In the last part, the research results were interpreted and supported with various suggestions.
