Abstract (EN)
In today's business world where competition is intense, one of the most fundamental problems of businesses is to ensure the continuity of the business by gaining competitive advantage. In such an environment, increasing the performance of businesses depends on the effective and efficient use of their capabilities and resources by focusing on innovation activities. The main purpose of this dissertation is to reveal whether there is a mediating effect of product innovation in the relationship between organizational capabilities and business performance. The research consists of two main parts: theory and practice. Firstly, the concepts of organizational capabilities, business performance and innovation, which are the main variables of the research, were examined in detail, and then hypotheses were formulated to test the total, direct and indirect effects of the independent and mediating variables on the dependent variable. The research population consists of a middle or senior level manager of the enterprises operating in the Organized Industrial Zone in Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Bolu and Yalova provinces in the East Marmara Development Agency (MARKA) region. In this study where quantitative research method was used, data were obtained via e-mail and online survey. The total number of questionnaires evaluated and used in data analysis is 312. The mediation effect analysis of the obtained data was conducted with Structural Equation Modeling and SPSS AMOS package program Bootstrap technique. As a result of the research, the assertion that "product innovation has a mediating variable effect in the relationship between organizational capabilities and business performance" could not be confirmed in all sub-dimensions analyzed. Among the organizational capabilities; production capability, learning capability, logistics capability and partnership-building capability dimensions of organizational performance did not have a mediating variable effect of product innovation in the relationship between them and the financial performance dimension of business performance. Similarly, it has been determined that product innovation does not have a mediating effect between the production capability and learning capability dimensions and the customer performance dimension. In the relationship between the other dimensions within the scope of the analysis, product innovation was found to have a mediating effect. Finally, within the framework of the findings, some suggestions for managers and researchers are presented.
