The cultural leadership roles of the school principals in high schools? being effective schools

The purpose of this study is to examine the cultural leadership roles of the school principals in high schools? being effective schools. 240 high school teacher and 48 high school principals, namely, 288 teachers who work in Afyonkarahisar center in 2010-2011 academic year, participated in this study. To determine the high school effectiveness the effective school scale by Şişman (1996) was applied to the participants. Also, cultural leadership parts of Yıldırm?s scale(2001) is applied to determine the cultural leadership effectiveness.In this study, the impetus of variables, such as sex, duty specification, school specification, age, year of service, educational status and branch on participators were examined. After obtaining all of the data, validity and reliability are analyzed and at the analysis of quantitative data t test, percentage and frequency calculations, one way anova and canonic correlation analyses are used. The value internal consistency coefficient calculated for confidence study is observed as ? =0.94. The results related to confidence studies depict that survey has a confident structure.According to the results, branch and school specifications are found to have no effect on the cultural leadership roles of the school principals in high schools? being effective schools. Also, it is concluded that sex, duty specification, age, year of service and educational status has an effective role on the topic.
