Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to adapt the text of an activity chosen by secondary school mathematics teachers and to reveal reflections from the implementation processes. The study group consists of 24 mathematics teachers. Teachers were asked to choose an activity text, adapt it to apply it to their classrooms, and apply it to their students. At the end of the process, a form containing 8 questions about this adaptation and application experiences was used as a data collection tool. The data were collected within the scope of the project numbered 119K773, which was supported under the TÜBİTAK 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Programme. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings, it was stated that almost all of the teachers chose the activities from the textbooks and made some changes between the text of the activity and the adapted version, taking into account the readiness, instruction, material, time management, student study style, the application environment of the activity, responsibility, assessment and grade level. Problems caused mainly by distance education were encountered in the implementation of the activity, and some problems were encountered in preliminary information and information, instructions, materials and a wider range. Regarding the personal evaluations of the teachers about the activity practices, it was stated that they were weak in mathematical richness, and they were stronger in readiness and teacher and student responsibility in the activity. In practice, it is thought that the students have achieved the desired output to a large extent, and the reasons for not reaching the output fully are presented as the lack of prior knowledge due to the pandemic, problems in time management, and language problems. It was stated that improvements should be made for the content of the event text and mainly for the event implementation components for the subsequent uses of the event. In this context, research can be conducted to design more qualified activities. Keywords: Activity-Based Teaching, Activity Design, Activity Application, Activity Adaptation
