Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of resilience and self-esteem on the increase on life satisfaction level of students in the role of bully and victim by examining bullying behaviors in middle school students. For this purpose, 1271 (51.1% female, 48.9% male) students from 6 state secondary schools are participated to the study. In the research process, Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument (APRI), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), Child and Youth Resilience Measure (CYRM-12) and Brief Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale (BMSLSS) were used to collect data. The validity and reliability of the Adolescent Peer Relations Scale for Turkish culture were also examined in the study. CFA was used to examine the construct validity of the APRI. For reliability, the correlation between Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients and test-retest scores was examined. Findings have shown that this scale is a valid and reliable tool for Turkish students. In addition, Cronbach Alpha values were calculated for other measurement tools used in the study and it was determined that they are reliable. Spearman Brown Correlation Coefficient values were calculated in order to examine the relationships between peer bullying behaviors and life satisfaction, self-esteem and resilience. A moderate level of significant relationship was found between peer bullying behaviors and life satisfaction and resilience, and a low level of significant relationship between self-esteem. According to the mediation analysis, it was found that the relationship between peer bullying behaviors and life satisfaction was mediated by self-esteem and resilience, which increase life satisfaction.
