Evaluation of the relationship between secondary school teachers' attitudes towards the teaching profession and communication skills

Teaching is one of the professional groups that play a major role in the development of future generations and their becoming useful individuals to society. It is possible to say that teachers have a different effect on each student. The place of the teacher differs in the eyes of each student. The reason for this situation is that the teacher exhibits different behaviors on the basis of students. At this point, teachers need to be attentive. It is of great importance that teachers approach each student in the same way and behave equally. In this way, it is possible for students to see that they are in an equal position. In addition, teachers need to be compassionate, merciful, fair, responsible and patient. It is especially important for a teacher to be patient. Otherwise, they may exhibit different behaviors towards the student and this situation causes the student to exhibit different behaviors. In this context, it is possible to say that communication skills are very important. It is usual for a teacher who has an effective communication to easily establish a connection with the student. Because he/she can utilize communication skills to attract the attention of the student. Considering that the number of students in the classroom is quite high, it is more possible for a teacher with high communication skills to dominate the classroom. This study is based on middle school students. Secondary school students are considered to be more mature and know how to behave compared to primary school students. In this respect, it is possible to say that it is easier to attract their attention. However, this situation may differ due to personal characteristics. At this point, teachers have a lot of duties. It is extremely important to have an idea about the personal characteristics of each student. In this way, it becomes easier to communicate with the student. It is possible to say that a teacher who has an idea about the situations experienced by his/her students inside and outside the classroom is always one step ahead. Within the scope of this information, the aim of this study is to examine and evaluate the relationship between secondary school teachers' attitudes towards teaching profession and their communication skills. In this context, a comprehensive literature review was conducted and an effective study was put forward in line with the resources obtained. As a result of the study, it was seen that the fact that secondary school teachers have communication skills takes them one step forward. It was also found that the approach of students with communication skills to the teaching profession was positive.
