Examination of graduate thesis made on secondary school Turkish Republic Revolutionary History and Ataturkish course education

In this research, postgraduate theses on Secondary School Turkish Republic Revolution History and Kemalism course education were examined. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the status of the theses made on the subject from different perspectives. In addition, it is thought that the study will contribute to the literature, researchers and educators. Theses included in the research; in terms of variables such as graduate level, university, researcher gender, advisor title, number of pages, institute, department, discipline, research model, research design, data analysis method, data collection tool, sample and sample selection technique, subject, result and suggestion examined. The document analysis model, which is one of the qualitative research models, was used in the research. The theses to be used for the research were obtained by scanning through the Council of Higher Education National Thesis Center. As a result of the scanning, 84 postgraduate theses were reached. 6 of these theses were not included in the research because they were not open to access. It was seen that 67 of the 78 theses were master's and 11 of them were doctoral theses. The data obtained were subjected to descriptive and content analysis, separated into themes and categories, and transferred to tables by making frequency and percentage calculations. According to the results of the research, it was concluded that the most of theses were made in 2019, doktoral theses are less than master's theses and male researchers were more than female researchers. It has been revealed that the theses are mostly made in Gazi University and they are made in the Institute of Educational Sciences as an institute. Apart from this, it has been revealed that the quantitative method is mostly preferred as the research model, the semi-structured interview form is mostly used as the data collection tool, the descriptive analysis method is used as the data analysis method. It was determined that the researchers mostly chose 8th grade students, Social Studies Teachers and textbooks as the study group. In addition, the academic succes and attitude of the students were chosen as the research topic. Considering the results of the theses examined, it was seen that the most common result was that the method technique tested in the research increased the academic success of the students and improved the attitude towards the course. Among the results that followed, there were many conclusions that the textbooks were not prepared in accordance with the criteria, that the curriculum was not suitable for the constructivist approach and that it should be rearranged. The most common suggestion in the examined theses is "textbooks should be re-prepared and the quality of visual elements should be increased". The educational paths obtained in the research primarily suggested the duties of thesis assistants related to the Republic of Turkey Revolution History and Kemalism education.
