Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship among school moral atmosphere and student engagement in secondary schools. The population of this study which is in correlational survey model constitutes from students studying in secondary schools of Elazığ province in 2016-2017 education year. The study was conducted on 872 students studying in 56 secondary schools. The research data was collected by using School Engagement Scale and School Moral Atmosphere Questionnaire. So in the analysis of data, frequency, mean, t-test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis were used. According to the results of the study, it was determined that school engagement level of girls is significantly higher than that of boys. It has been found that neither level of student engagement nor students' perception of school moral atmosphere do not significantly differ according to mother and father education level. In addition, the parents' marital status (married / divorced) have a significant effect on the dimension of school as community. As a result of multiple regression analysis, it was determined that school moral atmosphere significantly predicted student engagement. At the end of the study, proposals have made to policy makers, practitioners and researchers. Key Words: Student Engagement, School Moral Atmosphere, Moral Reasoning.
