Abstract (EN)
The Effect of Inpatient Orthopedic Clinic Patients' Perceptions of Nursing Care on Their Coping Styles with Stress This research was designed and conducted in a descriptive and cross-sectional manner to determine the impact of inpatient orthopedic clinic patients' perceptions of nursing care on their coping styles with stress. This study was conducted at the Orthopedic Clinic of Gaziosmanpaşa Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. The population of the study consisted of 100 patients, while the sample size was determined as 75 patients using the known population sampling method. Data collection was conducted through face-to-face interviews between June 22, 2023 and August 1, 2023. The data for this research were collected using a Personal Information Form, the Patients' Perception of Nursing Care Scale, and the Coping Styles with Stress Scale. The data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0 Statistics Package Program. Independent Sample T-test was employed to compare scale scores between dichotomous variables such as patients' gender, while One-Way ANOVA Test was utilized to compare scale scores with three or more variables. Post Hoc Tests were applied to determine the source of differences observed among groups. Pearson Correlation Analysis was used to examine the relationship between scales. The mean score of the Patients' Perception of Nursing Care Scale was 62.49±15.23, while the total score of the Coping Styles with Stress Scale was 85.44±9.89.There was found to be a moderate positive correlation (p<0.05) between patients' perception of nursing care and coping styles with stress in general, as well as with the scores for "self-confident approach," "resigned approach," and "optimistic approach." Similarly, a moderate positive correlation (p<0.05) was observed between patients' coping styles with stress in general and the scores for "self-confident approach," "helpless approach," "resigned approach," "optimistic approach," and "seeking social support." Keywords: Stress, nursing care, orthopedics and traumatology, coping.
