Classification systems in the Turkish archives from the Ottoman period up to the present and putting archival documents into service

In this study, "Classification Systems" and "Research Services" in Turkish Archives were evaluated. In this context, archival works from the Ottoman Empire to the present were explained. Archiving activities carried out by the Turkish Archives today have been mentioned. In the "Introduction Section" of our study, archives and archiving were introduced very briefly and three main tasks of an archivist were underlined. The classification and classification system is explained shortly and the classification methods and systems applied for the first time in the world were mentioned and the classification procedures are also referred to. The methods of gathering, examining, evaluating and writing resources that we followed during our work were also mentioned. In Section I, under the main heading of the "Scope, Terminology and Definitions of the Archives", Archive, Archiving and Archive Spaces and Classification, Classification System and Classification Works on the Archive Documents were discussed. In Section II, under the main title of the "Turkish Archiving Studies", Archiving Studies in the History of Turkey, Archiving in the Period of Ottoman State and Archiving in the Period of Republic of Turkey were discussed. In Section III and IV, the answers from the 24 Turkish archives from where we have requested information were evaluated within the framework of our archival experience. In this sense, "the document/register book groups", "the amount of materials classified", "the classification systems applied" and "the methods for putting into service of the catalogued document/register book groups in these institutions were explained. In the Conclusion Section, the results of this study were pointed out.
