Arabic poetry in Iraq in the last period of Ottoman Empire (1850-2918)

This study deals with the subject of Arabic Poetry in Iraq in the last period of the Ottoman Empire (1850-1918). The subject is analyzed in three parts. In the introduction in the first chapter, the problem, purpose, importance and method of our thesis are revealed, and the issues related to the social, political and cultural life in Iraq in the last period of the Ottoman Empire are mentioned. In addition, in the first part, the social, political and cultural life of the Ottoman Empire is mentioned, and the place and importance of Arabic and Arabic Literature in the Ottoman Empire and in the eyes of the Ottoman sultans are discussed. In the second part, the subject of poetry, literary shake and the development of Arabic poetry in Iraq in the last period of the Ottoman Empire are discussed. In addition, the old elements of classical poetry that developed and the new elements that emerged in this period are also handled. Briefly, the interaction between Arabic Literature and Turkish Literature is also mentioned. There are also mentions of Arab poets who won awards around the world. The third part deals with the role of Iraqi poets in the resistance movements and revolutions that took place in the Arab World and Iraq against the Western occupation and imperialism. With this role played by the poets, a door is opened to understand the past of Iraq and the experience of resistance and struggle of Iraqi poets in the face of invasions. In this framework, the subject sits on three main axes: On the first axis, the solidarity of the Iraqi poets with the Ottoman Empire during the First World War and their commitment to the idea of Islamic unity are revealed. On the second axis, the attitude of the Iraqi poets against the western invaders who invaded the Arab countries is explained. It is also mentioned how Iraqi poets called for Arab unity after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War. In addition, the subjects of how Arab poets participated in the rebellion and resistance against the occupation of Arab lands were also discussed. The third axis is the occupation of Iraq by the British; It covers the poets' calls to the people to participate in the liberation struggle of Iraq, to resist the invaders and to expel the invaders from Iraq.
