Abstract (EN)
The main subject matter of this thesis is to explore the effects of the Ibn Khaldun's theories of history, state and society on the Ottoman historiographers and writers of siyasat-nama (the book of politics) and to assert whether it is possible to mention the philosophy of history in Ottoman Empire or not. In order to clearly understand Ibn Khaldun's opinions and to reveal the differences between him and other thinkers of Islamic world, the theories of the author of Muqaddimah (Introduction) and others' should be read comparatively since he as a North African thinker creates new conceptualizations in many subjects and brings new approaches especially in historical, political and social topics. Ottoman historians follow to Ibn Khaldun's viewpoint of history and produce an Ibn Khaldun-centric philosophy of history. Kâfiyeci writes a booklet about the method of history in accordance with the approach of the Muqaddimah's writer. Nâimâ as the first vak'anüvis (state chronicler) determines main principles for his profession of historiography in the light of Ibn Khaldun's opinions. Mustafa Nuri Pasha applies for Ibn Khaldun's history of philosophy in his book and tries to classify Ottoman history according to Ibn Khaldun's theory of state formation. Ibn Khaldun's viewpoint of history is reached its apogee by Cevdet Pasha. The Khaldunian approaches are firstly appeared in Kâtib Chelebi among the Ottoman siyasat-nama writers. In a period of political, economic and social crises of the empire, the visions of Muqaddimah's writer are offered as a prescription. As the time is changed, the manners of approaching to his thoughts and the interpretations about his theory are changed.
