Abstract (EN)

Discrimination is one of the problems that can arise in all sectors and every moment of our lives. This issue can negatively affect both our work life and social life. Identifying the issue is important to reduce these negative impacts. In this context, the purpose of the study is to identify discrimination existing in hotel businesses, to provide suggestions to prevent discrimination, and to contribute to the literature on the subject. The study used a qualitative research method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews using a semi-structured interview form. The sample group of the study consisted of 18 employees working in hotel businesses using purposive sampling technique. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the analyses; it was determined that personnel in managerial positions practice discrimination towards employees they feel close to, such as favoritism towards relatives and fellow townsmen (nepotism), favoritism towards friends and acquaintances (cronyism), political favoritism (partisanship), service favoritism, favoritism towards those in power and voter segments (clientelism), male employees in hotel businesses are subjected to positive discrimination against females, and female employees are most exposed to gender discrimination. Recommendations were made to reduce discrimination actions in hotel businesses.
