Abstract (EN)

The children with autism spectrum disorder have differences at the field of social skills than normally developing children as in the other developing fields. There are so many methods that teach social skills to the children with autism spectrum disorder. Some of all these the methods are considered as evidence based interventions. Social stories and video modeling are evidence based interventions. The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness and efficacy of social stories and video modeling while teaching social skills to children with autism spectrum disorder. The study was conducted with four children with autism spectrum disorder that 6-8 years old. The target behaviors were starting and carrying on independently playing skills, playing with mother skills, completing the activities alone independently skills. The research desing of the study is alternating treatment design. The results of the study indicated that the participants of the study could learned the target skills intervened social stories and video models. Three participants got the target skills in a shorter time using video model except one participant. One participant got the criteria at the same day both social story and video modeling interventions. It was seen that all the participants carried on the the target skills after the study was completed.The social validity data of the study was obtained doing descriptive analysis. The result of the social validity findings showed that the mothers find effective the social stories and video modeling, the participants could generalize the target skills to different people and environment after the study was completed and the families found the social stories and video modeling practicable. Also, the mothers indicated that they used social stories to decrease problem behaviors after the study was completed. One of the mothers said that she recorded to the video camera her son's sitting behavior to increase his sitting period.
