Abstract (EN)

Suffixes are the main elements of word derivation in Turkish when the language structure is considered. Some of the suffixes are included in the group of derivational affixes that form new noun or verb stems from the noun or verb roots and stems. This study focuses on the suffixes that make nouns from nouns. Suffixes that make nouns from nouns are the ones that are used to make a new noun from noun roots or stems. A new meaning also emerges in the words created by derivation. In grammar studies, only the functions of the suffixes are emphasized while the meaning that they give to the word is ignored. Since the elements that make up the meaning in the words are handled root-centered, the meaning that the affixes add to the word has not been adequately examined. Focusing more on appearance and structure in Turkey Turkish grammar; The meanings added to the root or stems of the noun or verb are handled superficially, however, it is not mentioned that the affixes add meanings to the words they derive from different functions. Although function and meaning are related, the limited meaning of function is ambiguous. The meanings of words are different. Considering the affixes only under the function limits the usage area of the words and causes wrong derivations. Therefore, it has been discussed in the study that affixes should be handled under the headings of morphological function and morpho-semantic function. Therefore, in the study, the meaning dimension of the affixes was discussed and this meaning was also examined under the name of morpho-semantic. There is no definition for morpho-semantics in the sources. However, it can be considered as a sub-branch of semantics which examines the meanings that suffixes give to the words they are added. In this study, a list of noun-deriving suffixes determined in grammar studies was created and thirty works were selected for the determination of suffixes. By examining these thirty works, the word list with the suffixes that derive nouns was listed, the meanings of the suffixes on the words were shown in a table, and the other meanings gained in the sentence were examined under the heading of other usage examples. It has been determined that some suffixes are connected with the root or stem to which they are attached; some suffixes create a meaning different from the meaning of the root or stem, and some suffixes derive a meaningful new word from words that do not have a meaning alone. How morpho-semantic derivation contributes to new concepts and vocabulary has been shown as well.
