Examination of the relationship between the development level of 0-6 years old children and the use of smart phone/tablet during the pandemic process

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children and the use of smart phones/tablets. The universe of the research consists of children parents who participate kindergartens and independent kindergartens in primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Mersin province Yenişehir county in the 2020-2021 academic year . The sample of the study consists of 114 girls and 94 boys. Personal Information Form, Internet Addiction Scale, Smart Phone/Tablet Usage Habit Family Scale, Ankara Developmental Screening Inventory, Gessell Developmental Figures Test were used to obtain the data of the study. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 25.0 statistical program was used to analyze the data. In the light of the findings obtained in the study, it is seen that the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children do not differ significantly according to gender. A highly positive and significant correlation was found between the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children and their chronological age. It was found that the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children differed significantly according to their sibling status. It is seen that the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children differ significantly according to the education level of their mothers. It is seen that the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children differ significantly according to the age of the mother. It is seen that the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children differ significantly according to the mother's profession. It is observed that the developmental levels of 0-6 year old children differ significantly according to the education level of the father. It is seen that the development levels of 0-6 year old children differ significantly according to the monthly financial income of the family. In this study, the relationship between the developmental levels of children aged 0-6 and the use of smartphones/tablets was examined. Including not only mothers but also fathers in the study may contribute to obtaining more comparable results in the literature.
