Examining the concept of post-truth in the scope of information verification and disinformation in new media tools

Based on the post-truth context given in the theoretical framework, information disinformation, which is increasing rapidly through new media tools and needs to be verified, is a very common situation today. In this study, it is aimed to determine the news about information disorders in the post-truth era through the verification platform Teyid.org, to measure the effect of the verification site on fake news, information verification and disinformation, and to determine the place of these concepts in news broadcasting. Between January 2019 and January 2022, the keywords of fake news, information verification and disinformation were selected and the news published between these dates were examined on the Teyid.org platform. The platform was chosen because of the diversity in news categories, ease of use of the site interface, and easier access to news sources through this platform. The descriptive method and data collection technique were used in the research, and within the framework of the purpose, the data were collected in the form of 14 news samples from the Teyid.org web-based platform. Among the news analyzed between the said dates, while the fake news category is 50%, information verification is 43% and disinformation is 7%, fake news is 39% on the National Press News site, and news about information verification is on social media with 60%. In the disinformation category, it was determined that the news was also included in the social media with a rate of 7%. It was observed that the news examined were on the social media platform with 50%, on the National Press News site platforms with 29%, on the Local Press News site platform with 17% and on the News site with 4%.
