Abstract (EN)

Purpose: It is aimed to examine the social-emotional and moral development of secondary school students who participate in sports extracurricular activities and physical education and sports field support and training courses, which are among the extra-curricular activities, and students who do not participate in these activities and any sportive activities. Material and Method: In the research, the general survey model (scientific method), which is a research approach aiming to describe an application situation from the past to the present, was used. 711 students consisting of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students voluntarily participated in the research. In the survey model, "Social-Emotional and Moral Development Scale (SDAGO)" was used to obtain data. In the analysis of the data, frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation were analyzed with the basic determining techniques. In addition, the t test was used to compare the data of two independent groups, and the one-way ANOVA test was used to compare more than two independent groups. Findings: From the data obtained through SDAGO; It was concluded that the group participating in PDSE was in favor of both women and men participating in PDSE, and against the 8th graders in both groups. In addition, the education level of the parents of both groups and the occupational groups did not make a difference in the total score. The number of friends variable was scored in favor of those who have 9-12 friends only in the "positive social behavior" sub-dimension. It was found that among those who did not participate in the PDSE, those who perceived their family income as low had lower SDAGO scores than those who perceived it as moderate. Results: Social-emotional and moral development of secondary school students was affected by PDSE participation, but not by their socio-economic characteristics.
