Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effects of stress coping styles and nursing care perceptions on the post-traumatic growth level of the individuals in the psychiatric clinic. Method: This descriptive study was conducted at the Akdeniz University Hospital Psychiatry Clinic between February 2016 and February 2017. In the study, the sample was determined by the power analysis method and the study was completed with a total of 122 individuals. Data were collected by face-to-face interview method using "Personal Information Form", "Coping Style Scale (CSS)", "Scale of Patient Perception of Hospital Experience With Nursing (PPHEN)" and "Post Traumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI)". The data were analyzed in the SPSS 23.0 package program. Results: The average age of the participating individuals was found to be 37±11 and 54.9% were female. It was also determined that 63.9% of participants had a non-psychotic disorder, 8±9 years of treatment duration, and 3±4 of psychiatric hospital admission. Participants were found to use effective methods to cope with stress (54.95 ± 14.74), to be satisfied with nursing (25.73±12.41) and to have high posttraumatic growth (66.56±26.23). Correlation between the scales showed statistically positive results between (PTGI and CSS (p <.001), PTGI and PPHEN (p=.001)). Conclusion: It has been found that using the effective coping styles and perceiving nursing care as quality affect the post-traumatic growth positively in the individuals who participated in the study. These results show that nurses working in psychiatric clinics can contribute to the post-traumatic growth levels of individuals with psychiatric illness by teaching effective coping strategies and providing qualified, individualized nursing care. Key words: post traumatic growth, coping, nursing care perception, mental disorders, psychiatric nursing
